When John Smith finds out that they are about to meet he plunges into a maelstrom of confusions to prevent their meeting, with hilarious results.
Directors Notes
It’s deepest January. The nights are short, the weather’s cold, the by-pass is built, so let’s get silly! And what could be more uplifting than a frantic Ray Cooney farce? You’re guaranteed to lose those Christmas pounds just watching this talented cast dashing around our technicolour set. At the end of “Run For Your Wife” we left bigamist taxi-driver John Smith secure in the arms of his two wives – Mary in Wimbledon, and Barbara in Streatham, each ignorant of the other’s existence (imagine the shift patterns!). Now 18 years later, John has a son in Streatham and a daughter in Wimbledon. And thanks to the ‘net’ (internet, that is) the two have met, but only virtually. They’ve discovered they’ve a lot in common! Can John and his dopey lodger, Stanley, prevent the teenagers meeting in real-life, and so protect John’s secret lives? A simple lie is all that’s needed – and of course one lie leads to another. And, as my Granny used to say, “Be sure, your lies will find you out!”
