Synopsis

Stella and Regina have spent their lives preparing for the Big Day when they would be asked to step into the shoes of the ageing classical actresses for whom they understudy. Stella is a method actress, passionate about the magic of the theatre. Regina is cynical and practical, spending her days knitting and shopping. Suddenly the Big Day arrives……

Directors Notes

Richard Crane’s gentle comedy follows two weeks in the lives of Stella and Regina – understudies to two ageing classical actresses. Both Stella and Regina hope that one day their time will come but till that day they occupy themselves in rehearsal and in their respective passions of the Theatre, Shopping and Knitting. What will happen when the Director calls in a “Known Actress” to take over?
