“Last of the Red Hot Lovers” is another of Neil Simon’s much loved American comedies. As ever his humour is tinged with sadness and the atmosphere created by his writing is bitter-sweet.

This time the ‘hero’ is middle-aged Barney Cashman, the owner of a fish restaurant in New York. He has led a mundane, sexually chaste life – faithful to his wite and childhood sweetheart, Thelma for twenty three years. At forty seven he decides, before it is too late, to ‘test the water’ with another woman. Unfortunately, in his naivety his choices are not wise!
