Directors Notes
ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE…
If the author of tonight’s play had thought of that first. he, might have said “All the World’s a Circus Ring”…
Whether his characters make you laugh or cry or just irritate is very much an individual thing. Certainly we hope that they amuse you because you can’t really take them seriously. If you do it might possibly be a case of the cap fitting, which is most unlikely.
The entertainment is described as being five interlinking plays but the links seem so tenuous I wouldn’t bother trying to find them if I were you. I’m pretty certain that there are no hidden messages although you can perhaps take comfort in the message that you have no friends you can liken to any of the twenty-one characters Alan Ayckbourn has created. (Or maybe you have.)
So roll up, roll up and see the most amazing troupe of performing people, and split your sides laughing.
