Synopsis

A group of young men of widely varying characters and backgrounds is drafted into the American army in 1943 and undergoes basic training at Biloxi at the hands of a disillusioned drill sergeant intent on rooting out and destroying anything he considers a weakness. The strong frank theme is leavened with the basic and earthy humour of men under stress.

Directors Notes

When a show or a play calls for young talent to fill a couple of roles, you are lucky if you can fill these roles to a high standard. When a play like ‘Biloxi Blues’ comes along, that task is multiplied.

Fortunately we’ve brought together a cast of the best young talent in the area. And given the constraints of amateur rehearsal schedules, they do Bingley Little Theatre proud.

Young lads away from home for the first time. On their way overseas to a strange war. A frightening experience that hopefully few of our children will ever know.

Their language is earthy but not gratuitously offensive. Remember when you were 18?
