Synopsis

An exciting prospect. This is a new play, specially commissioned for the BT Biennial in association with the Little Theatre Guild of Great Britain and will be performed simultaneously by many Little Theatres throughout the country. The story centres on the comic trials and tribulations of ill-assorted neighbours – the rest is a mystery to us all.

Directors Notes

The inimitable Groucho once said ‘You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but you can’t pick your friend’s nose’ Funny – but not strictly true. You CAN pick your friends, and, if your friend is a good enough friend, he may even let you pick his nose! But one thing you can NEVER pick is your neighbours.

As you sit waiting for the play to begin take a look at the person behind you, to the side of you and in front of you. That is your neighbour for the next 2 1/2 hours.

Just suppose they are the ‘theatre-goers from hell’! The sweet wrappers, the coughing, the fidget, the chatterbox. What if they tap their foot on your seat from behind? Break wind silently? Slowly lean towards you from the side and nod off (hopefully not in this production)? Annoying as it may be for the duration of the play there is an end to it.

Our offering tonight takes that annoyance and multiplies it tenfold because, when your Nasty Neighbours are there 365 days of the year with no end in sight, there is no escape.
