Directors Notes
“Artichoke! Never heard of it !”
That is the most common comment I have heard regarding tonight’s play. You may think, coming as it does sandwiched between two of the world’s best known plays, this dear little play could well get lost.
However I am sure you will go home talking about the delightfully warm, humorous, sad, lovable characters that you are about to meet on our stage tonight and go on talking about them for weeks to come.
A bittersweet atmosphere pervades throughout. What if the ending is not gloriously happy? At least it is sensible and satisfactory, which is more than can be said of many modern plays.
All the cast and backstage crew join me in wishing you an excellent evening’s entertainment.
