It’s foolproof. What could possibly go wrong?
Directors Notes
Written by Mark Camoletti in 1987 this wonderful comedy is sure to get the Bingley crowd laughing all the way around the road works circling the town at this moment. The French, not normally known for their comedy, (Molière apart) have certainly found a very clever writer here. It’s very well put together, with all the usual farce elements, the husband trying to get rid of his wife, while his mistress is about to turn up, mistaken identities, the husband’s best friend, who is in love with the husband’s wife, and a gourmet dinner to be cooked by a cook who can’t. Quite a hatful but it all leads to a very entertaining play, just the job for a cold and soggy January and to help us all get over our Xmas blues. Rehearsing a play in the December/January period is a very difficult job for everyone involved, the Xmas break and all the parties leaves you with no room for manoeuvre at all, and so I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all their hard work, from the actors to the unsung heroes working hard in the background in making this play go ahead. So sit back, relax and listen very carefully; I shall say this only once. Cut up your French sticks, dust off your Maurice Chevalier records, take off your berets and enjoy a little bit of French culture here in little Bingley.
0000h Renee!
Enjoy.
