Synopsis
This riotous farce has all the ingredients for rib-tickling hilarity. Eric Swann (aided by his uncle George and unbeknown to his wife, Linda) has pocketed thousands of pounds through fraudulent DSS claims. When Norman Bassett (the lodger) opens the door to Mr Jenkins, the DSS inspector, deceptive mayhem follows. Fast-paced, this will keep you involved to the final page.
Directors Notes
Welcome to the world of Eric Swan. Eric has been defrauding the welfare authorities for years by claiming every type of benefit available for the innumerable people he claims live at his address. As things get out of control, Eric decides to kill off the imaginary dole recipients; however, When Norman (the lodger) opens the door to Jenkins, the benefits-office inspector, mayhem follows – as do the undertaker, bereavement counsellor, psychiatrist, Norman’s fiancée, a corpse, the ominous Ms. Cowper and a stroppy washing machine!!
Michael Cooney is definitely following in his father’s footsteps when it comes to causing chaos with inanimate objects. Ray gave us the people-trapping window in Out of Order, and the predatory sofa from our 2008 production of Tom, Dick & Harry. So now we have a washing machine that has a rebellious streak…
So on behalf of the cast and crew please sit back, relax and enjoy yourselves while Eric tries to squirm his way from one disaster to another.
